Horseback Riding in Bermuda is a popular pastime for visitors and you can do it throughout the year. All rides are accompanied by qualified instructors. Horses cannot be hired and ridden without supervision, as Bermuda has very strict laws regarding horseback riding in public areas, especially on beaches. The majority of large resort hotels are accessible to handicapped visitors; most of the smaller ones are not. Many of the larger shops and stores cater to the handicapped traveler, but smaller ones do not. Pink and Blue public buses are not equipped to handle wheelchairs, but the ferries can handle them quite easily. The Bermuda Physically Handicapped Association does, however, have a bus with a hydraulic lift. It’s operated by volunteers, and you can make arrangements in advance. For full details about how handicapped visitors can get around Bermuda, handicapped accessible beaches, and horseback riding for handicapped visitors, please read my full review: Visiting Bermuda – Handicapped Travelers.

Renting a car in Bermuda is not an option; there is no such service. That being so, getting around Bermuda takes a bit of thought and pre-planning. If you’re over the age of 16, you can rent a moped or a bicycle; a driver’s license is not required. The only difficulty, depending on what part of the world you live in, is riding on the left side of the road. Bicycles and mopeds are cheap to rent, convenient, easy to park, and no destination is too far away. You’ll find bikes to rent at most hotels and at all of the cycle shops. Touring the island by bicycle allows you to really absorb the beauty that surrounds you. The Royal Naval Dockyard at the West End of the island is less than two hours from the city of Hamilton by bicycle. If the ride back is more than you can handle, you can return by ferry. The daily rate for a bicycle ranges from $20 to $35; for a moped it’s $40 to $50 per day, and it’s less expensive if you rent by the week. If you’d like to know more, please read my article, Getting Around Bermuda.

Bermuda’s peak season – April through September – is a great time to head to Bermuda. That’s when the weather, events, activities and attractions are all at their peak. The beaches are
open (though often crowded), and there are lots of organized tours, barbecues, cricket matches and evening entertainment options. In summer the days are balmy, the evenings warm and romantic, and the nights cool. The temperatures during the day rise into the mid-80s to low 90s, and fall in the evenings to the high 60s or low 70s. Read the full report.Follow me on Twitter.
