Bermuda Accommodation Options

Bermuda’s accommodations are varied and offer visitors a choice between a casual, relaxed atmosphere and the more sophisticated, formal atmosphere of the modern luxury hotel.

The large resort hotels usually have their own beach or beach club and pool, and several have their own golf course. Most offer the usual luxury resort facilities, including porter, bell and room service, planned activities, sports, social desk and/or director, shops, beauty salon, bicycle livery, taxi stand, bars, restaurants, nightclubs and entertainment right on the premises.

Smaller hotels offer much less, but several do have their own beach or waterfront facilities. The large hotels usually have their own watersports facilities that rent windsurfers, paddleboats, Sunfish and snorkeling equipment. And almost every hotel, large or small, can set you up with water-related activities from charter fishing to diving to sightseeing; many of them have access to some of the private clubs on the islands and can provide guests with special privileges.

Entertainment and facilities at hotels are often cut back or not available at all from November through March. In addition, other activities may be unavailable due to renovation, maintenance or refurbishing. Be sure to check with your hotel when booking your accommodation.

The cottage colonies are uniquely Bermudian and feature a main clubhouse with dining room, lounge and bar. The cot tages themselves are spread throughout landscaped grounds and offer both privacy and luxury. Many have kitchenettes for beverages and light snacks, but are not really equipped for full-scale cooking. All have their own beach and/or pool.

There are two private clubs in Bermuda. Both are in the luxury
category and require an introduction by a member.

Housekeeping cottages and apartments are large properties situated in landscaped estates with their own beach and pool, much like the cottage colonies, but without the main clubhouse. Each is complete with kitchen facilities. Some are designed as wings or modern apartment-style units surrounding their own pool or have views of the ocean. The smaller locations offer less expensive accommodations with fewer amenities in less spacious surroundings. Some have a pool, all have kitchens and minimal daily maid service.

Guest houses offer bed and breakfast accommodations and are often old Bermuda homes in garden settings that have been modernized to provide comfortable guest rooms. A few have their own waterfront area and/or pool. Most offer breakfast only, all are informal. Some have kitchenette units while still others provide shared kitchen facilities.
