There are several internet cafes in Hamilton, including: Internet Lane, 22 Reid Street, Hamilton, % 441-296-9972, info@internetlane.net, www.internetlane.net. Internet Lane offers high speed internet access and is a state-of-the art facility where you can check your e-mail, chat to friends, surf the net and whatever else. There are computers for use by the Lane’s patrons, or you can bring your own laptops.
Another opportunity is the Freeport Seafood Restaurant, Royal Naval Dockyard, Sandy’s Parish, % 441-234-1692. They, too, offer internet access through on-site computers for the use of their patrons, or you can bring your own laptop.
Most of Bermuda’s major hotels offer high-speed internet
access either via Ethernet cable or wireless connection. The
cost runs from $12 to $20 per day, depending upon the
hotel.
The IPass network offers dial-up service almost everywhere
in Bermuda. It’s a bit of a pain to use – you have to get them
to help you set up your computer for Bermuda. To get a list of
IPass providers, go online to www.ipass.com and then click
on “Individuals.” Select your country (Bermuda) and this is
what you’ll find:
"Worldwide Dialup – We are the solution for individuals, small to medium size businesses and Universities! Worldwide Dialup provides an easy to use, fully supported IPass dialup and broadband service, with 24x7x365 support, email with Spam and Virus Filtering, on-line account administration and a fully redundant network. Our staff provides technical assistance regardless of your operating system - from Windows to Mac to Palm, we can even point you in the right direction if you are using other non-supported systems for connectivity (Linux, Unix, etc). Our rates are extremely competitive!”
They are out of Ada, Michigan and, yes, you’ll have to call for current rates, % 616-682-4813, fax 616-682-1389. In the end, though, I’m not sure it’s entirely worth it, especially with almost all hotels on the island providing service of one sort or another, even if it’s only via the hotel guest’s business office.
