Bermuda - Financial Information

Money:
The Bermuda dollar is divided into 100 cents, and is pegged, through gold, to the American dollar. The US dollar is accepted by all erchants on the islands; change will often be given as a mixture of American and Bermudian currency. Cash machines are also widely available.

Checks:
Personal checks drawn on US banks may be used for purchases at more than 200 locations. US checks can be cashed at some hotels or at local banks by arrangement. The BermudaFinancial Network at 441-292-1799 will cash US checks for a 3% fee. US travelers checks are accepted islandwide.

Credit Cards:
MasterCard, Visa and American Express are accepted at virtually every store, restaurant and hotel and may be used for cash dvances at all local bank branches.

ATM Machines:
ATMs are provided at locations island-wide by the Bank of Bermuda and the Bank of Butterfield. They accept Mastercard, Visa, Cirrus and Plus, and are available for advances 24 hours a day. The Bermuda Financial Network at 441-292-1799 will provide assistance to visitors who need help with American Express.
