There’s nothing quite like a boat ride on a warm, sunny day.
Ferries run between Hamilton and Paget, Warwick,
Somerset and the Royal Naval Dockyard. You can go out on
the ferry and return by bus or vice-versa. The boat ride to the
Dockyard takes about 30 minutes. A round-trip to the Dockyard,
then along the coast to Grey’s Bridge, Watford Bridge
Wharf to Somerset and back to
Hamilton, takes a good hour and
can be a delightful experience.
The ferry plies back and forth between
Paget and Hamilton every 30
minutes or so. The fare between
Paget or Warwick and Hamilton is
$2 each way; between Hamilton
and the Royal Naval Dockyard or
Somerset, it’s $3.50; bicycles go
free, but $3 is charged for each
moped. Bicycles and mopeds are
not allowed on the smaller ferry
boats between Warwick or Paget
and Hamilton. The three- or seven-day unlimited travel pass
mentioned above really comes into its own when traveling by
ferry. Over the course of a week, you’ll probably ride the ferry
a number of times; with the average round-trip costing between
$4 and $7, savings can be significant.
