Visiting Bermuda by Sea - Page 2

Cruising is a great way to visit any exotic location. Long, lazy days on deck, lounging poolside, being waited on handand- foot every waking moment, makes cruising an unforgettable experience. Feel like really pampering yourself? The spa and salon are only a deck away. Tropical sea breezes, watching the moon rise over the ocean, with the trackless sea stretching to the horizon in every direction – these are moments you can experience no other way.

The Food on Board
The food on any cruise, no matter the line, is always a little out of the ordinary. Most ships have a master chef on-board to oversee the menu, cuisine and overall standard of excellence. The dining rooms are large, airy and offer grand views of the ocean. But it’s the food that’s special. Lobster is the highlight of Celebrity’s main menu (at least it was at the time of writing). Afternoon tea is an experience not to be missed – homemade, freshly-baked scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream.

Then there are the midnight buffets, extravaganzas of goodies where all-you-can-eat is the watchword.

Want to dine in your room? No problem. Order room service from the menu or have gourmet pizza delivered to your door. Paying for Extras on Board You’ll be expected to provide a credit card number or to prepay for a ship-board charge card. This means you’ll hand over several hundred dollars (or British pounds), and they’ll give you a credit account for charging all your extras. (Don’t worry, they let you know as soon as your credit is up and you need to give them some more money.) It’s easy to run up your bill. Several rounds of drinks will hit you hard, and you may lose track when you’re having a good time.

Casinos on Board
Again, the watchword here is caution. I’ve heard horror stories of couples on honeymoon losing all they had on the outward- bound leg of the cruise. A vacation with little or no spending money can be a harrowing experience.
