The Minnie Breslauer was an English steamer on her
maiden voyage when she was lost off the coast of Bermuda
on January 1st, 1873. She was en route from Malaga to New
York with a cargo of fruit, wine and lead when she hit the
reef. Rescuers managed to pull the ship off the rocks and she
headed to St. George’s for repairs. Unfortunately, she was
too severely damaged and went down a mile off the coast,
south of Horseshoe Bay, where she lies in some 60 feet of water.
She has been pretty well destroyed by more than 100
years under water, but parts of her stern section are still discernible, as are her boiler and propeller.
For visitors arriving by air, Bermuda is served by most US airlines and by international airlines from Canada and Europe. Bermuda is also a major destination for the cruise ship industry.
