Dress Code
Strict dress codes are enforced at all
clubs. Shirts must have collars and
sleeveless varieties are prohibited.
Shorts must be Bermuda length (to the
knee) and jeans and cut-offs are absolutely
not allowed.
Tee-Time Reservations
Reservations at the three government-run courses – Ocean
View, Port Royal and St George’s – can be made by calling the
central reservation system at % 441-234 4653. Tee times at
the other courses can be made through hotels or by contacting
the course directly.
Three of the courses are private clubs – Mid Ocean, Riddell’s Bay and Tucker’s Point – so you’ll need either an introduction by a member or a stay at one of the many hotels that have corporate memberships and are able to introduce a limited number of their guests. Many of the cruise ships visiting Bermuda offer a round of golf as part of their shore excursion program.
Groups & Tournament Play
Most courses will accommodate groups if the Director of Golf
or golf club management is notified well in advance. Special
group green fees, however, are not normally offered. If your
group is playing a tournament in Bermuda, you are eligible
to receive local prizes, compliments of the Bermuda
Department of Tourism, provided arrangements are made in
advance. The maximum group qualification is 20 players.
Golf Equipment
Golf clubs, both left- and right-handed are available at each
course. Balls at most leading stores in Bermuda cost
between $15 and $60 per dozen. They are priced slightly
higher in the club pro shops.
Reseeding Greens
Reseeding is usually done between late September and early
November, depending on weather conditions. Some courses
go to temporary greens for a period of two to four weeks,
others keep their greens in play. Check with your hotel or
golf course during this period to determine what the local
conditions might be.
Special Charges For Golfing Equipment On
Airlines
Airlines differ regarding policies on golf bags. Some will
include them as a part of your free baggage allowance, others
charge a flat fee. Check with your airline before you make a
reservation.
For visitors arriving by air, Bermuda is served by most US airlines and by international airlines from Canada and Europe. Bermuda is also a major destination for the cruise ship industry.
