Warwick Long Bay Beach (South Shore Park, South Road) “Long” is the operative word (see photo above), for as far as you can see eastward the great stretch of pink sand curves gently into the distance. There’s room enough for everyone here – more sea and sand than you can imagine – so Warwick Long Bay Beach is rarely crowded or even busy enough to warrant a search for a quiet spot.
Be warned, however, that Warwick Long Bay is not the ideal beach to turn the kids loose. You’ll need tokeep an eye on them constantly, and you shouldn’tlet them venture into the water on their own. The sea can turn quite rough and the sandy bottom is apt to drop off quite suddenly. Undercurrents can also be aproblem.
But this is a great place to spend the day, with or without kids. The South Shore Park, with its public services, runs almost the entire length of the bay. Hours can be spent wandering the shoreline and the park itself has cliffs, woodland trails and delightful landscaping. There’s also a playground for the kids with swings, slides and ropes; all good fun. Time for something to eat? Take advantage of the concession stand just across the road above the beach for sandwiches and ice cream.
